Karpathos Airport

Karpathos Island National Airport (IATA AOK, ICAO LGKP) located in southern Karpathos at the area of Afiartis , 15 km south of the capital of Karpathos.

The airport operated since 1970 and the international services, started in 1987. In 1993 was created a larger building which was demolished in 2005 to finally build the new premises in the summer of 2009.
The airport building covers an area of 700 sq mtrs and has been build according to the traditional architecture of the island.
At the airport operates ticket office, 10 baggage and ticket check-ins, car rental offices, duty free shop, bars and newspaper shop and a taxi station, the airport is easily accessible by people with disabilities.
There is also a  meteorological station and a police station, car and bus parking.
The aircraft parking is big enough for 3 large aircraft, two smaller and two lighter ones.
The runway has a length of 2,400 m.
