Ο Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Μυτιλήνης " Οδυσσέας Ελύτης" αρχισε να λειτουργεί το 1948 με διάδρομο από αμμοχάλικο 1200Χ32μ.

Το 1965 το συνολικό εμβαδόν του αεροσταθμού ήταν 368 τμ. Σήμερα ο διάδρομος έχει μήκος 2400μ. και πλάτος 45μ. και ο αεροσταθμός εχει συνολική επιφάνει 2000τμ. 

Το 1980 πραγματοποιήθηκε η πρώτη πτήση charter.

On 1965 the building infrastructure of airport had a total surface 368 m². Today, the Runway has a length of 2400 m and a width of 45m and the building infrastructure of airport has a total surface 2000 m². 

The first charter flight touch down on 1980.
